Webinar on The State of Play for Human Rights Due Diligence: Navigating the Omnibus Proposal Through the Lens of Mandatory HRDD Implementation Lessons

On the 1st of October 2025, the NOVA BHRE was delighted to participate in a webinar on The State of Play for Human Rights Due Diligence: Navigating the Omnibus Proposal Through the Lens of Mandatory HRDD Implementation Lessons, organized by Rachel Chambers, as director of the Business and Human Rights Initiative at the University of Connecticut.
In this session, Claire Bright explored the lessons learned from implementing mandatory HREDD laws and how those lessons inform the proposed reforms under the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and the Omnibus proposal, and David Hess acted as discussant.
We reflected on what has been successful, the challenges companies continue to face, and the key lessons to help ensure the regulatory reforms are practical, impactful, and respectful of rights.
The conversation highlighted both the progress made and the obstacles that remain, drawing out insights to make the regulatory reforms more effective, workable, and rights-centered.
