Melissa Hernández

Melissa Hernández is an LLM student in Human Rights Advocacy at NOVA School of Law and University Network for Human Rights. She holds a degree in International Relations from the Universidad Iberoamericana, specializing in the negotiation and mediation of socio-environmental conflicts. She has experience in international cooperation, gender studies, environmental justice, and human rights.
She has worked on green economic cooperation, including projects related to sustainable development and environmental governance, as well as on international trade with a focus on green customs, supporting processes that align trade practices with environmental standards. Melissa has collaborated in regional and international youth advocacy processes, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on the participation of youth defenders of the territory and the promotion of the Escazú Agreement.
She is currently part of UN Women’s global #GenerationEquality campaign, where she promotes the gender equality agenda from an ecofeminist and peacebuilding perspective, with special attention to the role of youth in conflict prevention and social transformation.
