NOVA BHRE Serving on the Jury of Daniel Litwin’s PhD Defence

On the 9th of December 2025, our director, Claire Bright, had the pleasure of serving on the jury for the PhD thesis defence of Daniel Litwin at the European University Institute. His thesis, “Multinational Corporations and Economic Inequality: Rethinking Corporate Governance and Human Rights,” offers a timely and insightful contribution to one of the most pressing challenges of our era: the growing impact of multinational corporations on global income and wealth inequality.

Daniel’s work stands out for its clarity, originality, and practical relevance. Notably, it offers a robust framework for integrating wage disparity and tax avoidance into human rights due diligence, drawing valuable parallels with emerging approaches to climate-related due diligence. This work meaningfully advances the conversation on how corporate governance and human rights can address systemic inequality.

Congratulations, Daniel, on an outstanding thesis and defence, and on a remarkable contribution to the field. We look forward to seeing the impact your research will undoubtedly have on both scholarship and policy.
