HeforShe Academy
The 1st edition of HeForShe Lx Academy was an original initiative of HeForShe Lisboa, in partnership with the NOVA Centre on Business, Human Rights and the Environment, with the support of Linklaters LLP in Lisboa. This Academy intended to personally and professionally train young people between 20 and 30 years old, who were specifically looking to build a career in Human Rights and related fields, with a special focus on Gender Equality. To this end, the Academy created a safe place through which the participants could share experiences and knowledge, while having direct contact with renowned specialists, the possibility to acquire theoretical training on the issues under discussion and the development of soft skills during workshops.
The participants of the 1st edition of the HFS Lx Academy (2021-2022) had access to the course “Human Rights in a global world” organised in partnership with the NOVA Centre on Business, Human Rights and the Environment. The course took place entirely in-person, and was composed of 7 modules:
Module 1: An introduction to human rights – Taught by Professor Isabel Cabrita on the 16th of October 2021
Module 2: International Cooperation and the role of International Law – Taught by Benedita Sequeira on the 6th of November 2021
Module 3: Migration and Human Rights – Taught by Emellin de Oliveira on the 4th of December 2021
Module 4: The environment and the sustainability of human rights – Taught by Sara Félix on the 4th of December 2021
Module 5: Private entities and the intersection with human rights – Taught by Professor Claire Bright and Vera Ferreira de Lima on the 16th of February 2022
Module 6: Regional human rights systems – Lectured by Professor Laura Iñigo Àlvarez on the 12th of March 2022
Module 7: Human rights and institutions (concluding module) – Taught by Professor Patrícia Galvão Teles on the 2nd of April 2022
