Human Rights, Sustainability and the Environment

Joana Mendes de Sousa is a Research Assistant at NOVA BHRE and a master’s degree student at NOVA School of Law, in the field of Litigation and Arbitration.

She is very interested in the field of Human Rights, Sustainability and the Environment. These interests lead her to take part in courses organised by JurisNova and Nova Law SU on the topics of on Asylum and Immigration Law, Business and Human Rights, Children’s Rights and the Environment, International Humanitarian Law and others. She also took part on the team that represented NOVA in Cyprus at the Transnational Youth Forum 2022, on the subject of Climate Change, Global Concerns and the impact on the Rights of Future Generations

Her experience starts with being a collaborator and later Secretary-General at Nova Law SU, as well as Marketing Manager of an International Organization – AIESEC, deputy of her municipal assembly and also a member of several musical groups. She also did an internship at Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares Silva e Associados.
